The Naturalist’s Starter Kit for Stress Relief

No matter how many hours are in the day, it never seems like enough. We promise ourselves that we’ll do better when work slows next week, month or year. That’s not realistic. Make your health and wellness a priority. Start with these quick and easy tips for stress relief.

Unplug

Everyone needs a reminder to limit screen time. Avoid checking emails or looking at to-do lists first thing in the morning. Give yourself 30 to 60 minutes of relaxing wake-up time.

Exercise

Exercise increases your core temperature and releases endorphins that can bring about feelings of happiness and euphoria. Try going on a brisk walk for 30 minutes each day.

Drink Up

Chamomile tea is known to calm nerves, relax muscles and decrease headaches.

Set the Mood

Rub some eucalyptus oil on your temples and wrists to clear your mind and refocus your thoughts.

Meditate

Anxiety-focused meditations allow you to concentrate on your breathing and find relief from the often-panicked thoughts that accompany stress.

Snack Smart

Avoid sugars and simple carbs, which don’t nourish the body. Balance your blood sugar by eating small, nutrient-packed snacks between meals, such as hummus with carrots or nut butter on multigrain toast.
